Ricky @ Golden Globes

Here are some of Ricky Gervais’ best lines from last night’s Golden Globe Awards:
  • The Golden Globes are to the Oscars what Kim Kardashian is to Kate Middleton. Louder, drunker, and more easily bought.
  • The Hollywood Foreign Press Association is a nonprofit organization … just like NBC.
  • Eddie Murphy backed out of hosting the Oscars. When the man who said yes to Norbit says no to you, you know you’re in trouble.
  • The Hollywood Foreign Press Association warned me that I cause any controversy whatsoever, they’ll definitely invite me back next year as well.
  • The Hollywood Foreign Press Association gave me some rules, including that I mustn’t mention Mel Gibson this year. And especially not Jodie Foster’s beaver.
  • On Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries marriage Gervais said  “72 days is not a long time. I’ve sat through longer James Cameron acceptance speeches.”
  • He asked Johnny Depp “Have you seen The Tourist yet?”
  • He reminded winners not to “thank everyone they’ve ever met—just their agents and God.”
  • “This year’s audience is better than last year’s, which had a right stick up their ass.”
